When life gets you down

“my beerdrunk soul is sadder than all the dead christmas trees of the world.”
― Charles Bukowski

Up, down, never settled.

Shadow thoughts. Always the slight unease of knowing there should be more.

More what?

Peace?

Equanimity?

Happiness?

Money? (I hope not.)

But that’s life, isn’t it?

Truth be told, you only want it one way, but it’s never like that. And you know that, surely?

What you need do is breathe, sit still and stop thinking so bloody hard. Scrap that. You don’t need do anything — seriously — for no matter how crappy you feel, everything passes.

Everything.

Don’t believe me?

Sit with your deepest angst (in silence) for a day, week, month (whatever you can bear) and what happens?

Your stupid inner critic will settle down.

Perhaps we all need to remember that everything passes. More than that we can’t see into the future, meaning we just need to accept this moment 100%, and at least for me, everything becomes a lot easier.
